Welcome to July's Technique Blog Hop! This month we are featuring a Simple Shadow technique as shown on page 102 of the Annual Inspiration Ideabook. This hop is a great big circle so be sure to visit all the designer's blogs to get some really great ideas! If you are coming from <a href="http://heartandsoulscrappers.blogspot.com/2015/07/ctmh-technique-blog-hop-simple-shadows.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: yellow;">Tonya'</span>s</a> blog you are on the right path! If you get lost along the way or would like to refer back to a certain blog you will find a list of all our designers this month at the end of my post.<br />
This technique is all about quick easy ways to highlight an item on your card or layout so it stands out from the rest of the piece. I decided to do a quick layout in Studio J for this one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqjxSDc_VrgkfvzfLqMoGKc_paAHEug1EKbJkz8qaqGmhEDfaVDh0hD27Gxsh9BLomJPxp7CEa5Y0NnnH2wwkEc8WYxSUcTr1xXNONWKXvvDeZGHSoHRR4JF7TIFseYkVRK5wqAJPlTto/s1600/ymca_-_1-left.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqjxSDc_VrgkfvzfLqMoGKc_paAHEug1EKbJkz8qaqGmhEDfaVDh0hD27Gxsh9BLomJPxp7CEa5Y0NnnH2wwkEc8WYxSUcTr1xXNONWKXvvDeZGHSoHRR4JF7TIFseYkVRK5wqAJPlTto/s400/ymca_-_1-left.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
As you can see, by adding a second journaling box and duplicating the black YMCA I was able to create a shadow by changing the color to slate and moving the box over just a smidgen. I also added a journaling box to each photo, colored it slate and moved it just a bit to the left and above my photos to create a bit more shadowing than was originally there from the program. All of the shadowing elements I "sent to the back" by right clicking on the box and selecting that option. If you would like to play with Studio J go <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/ctmh/products/studioj.aspx" target="_blank"><span style="color: yellow;">here</span></a> to my website and have some fun! One great thing about Studio J is that you can change up the papers and placement as many times as you want and you don't waste a thing!<br />

Welcome to this months Technique Blog Hop. This month we are featuring a fun technique that you can use on borders as shown in the Ideabook, or a number of other places on your project to highlight a cut out space. Our hop is a gigantic circle so be sure to visit all our designers blogs for some really fabulous ideas! If you get lost along the way, or would like to refer back to a specific blog, a full list of our designers can be found at the bottom of my post. For my card I started with this cute butterfly cutout on the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=6168&ci=84" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.</span> </a> Using the Cricut Craft Room I scattered my butterflies randomly up the side of the card, re-sizing each one to fit the design. Really, easy! To make the spacing of my butterflies easier and to make certain I wasn't running over my desired card size, I first placed a rectangle the size of my card on the craft room cutting mat,placed the butterflies how I wanted them on the rectangle, then deleted the rectangle piece before I cut. The rectangle is one of the basic images that come with the craft room.<br />
My next step was to cut a second piece of white cardstock the same size as my butterfly base, grab my <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=53" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Shinhan markers</span></a> and start coloring up the side that the butterflies are on. The markers bleed through the paper and I didn't want that to show on the inside of my card so that is why I used a another piece for the background. I did practice a bit on a scrap to get the right color combo. Here's another hint - overlap each color as you go up the side for a great gradual fading effect! To finish my card I added some <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=6792" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">silver shimmer tape</span></a> around the edges of the card base, stamped the sentiment from the <span id="goog_426433427"></span><a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7090" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Fabulous Yo<span id="goog_426433428"></span>u</span></a> set and taped it all down. <br />

<br />
Welcome to May! This month we are featuring the "Bit of Blot" technique as shown on page 55 of the Annual Inspirations Ideabook. Be sure to visit all our designers blogs to see their great interpretation of this technique. The hop is a great big circle, so keep going! If you get lost along the way or want to refer back to a particular designer you will find a complete list at the end of my post. If you are coming from <a href="http://heartandsoulscrappers.blogspot.com/2015/05/may-technique-bit-of-blot-blog-hop.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Tonya's blog</span></a> then you are on the right track!! I've been away from this blog hop for some time and it's great to be back - but I sure picked a doozie of a technique to start back on! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibV3iao4M6zo5CKx1J3tL924xfm_AqMBRdGM0I9E9f_jLYbDihJuy8j1h72Yaf-swepDFbiZGNn5YszQSpO03Jn4BbqoM9l7lNZsGO6dGrnFuI3lBuLn_0hPgBpZ7_YcCXpd7ps81RDdQ/s1600/blot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibV3iao4M6zo5CKx1J3tL924xfm_AqMBRdGM0I9E9f_jLYbDihJuy8j1h72Yaf-swepDFbiZGNn5YszQSpO03Jn4BbqoM9l7lNZsGO6dGrnFuI3lBuLn_0hPgBpZ7_YcCXpd7ps81RDdQ/s400/blot.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This technique might take a bit of practice to get it exactly like you want it. Too much water and you'll get a gigantic blob, but not enough water will not get you much ink off the block! I had the best results when I used a piece of foam from a stamp set under the paper where I was going to blot. Use a very light touch to begin with. When it looked like I had too much water I blotted the block on a scrap paper first then applied it to my layout. I also found that you can continue to blot your block without adding more ink and you will get different blots until the ink is gone or dry! I did use several different colors on my block at once to achieve some of the variations on the layout but in some places I used just one color on the block. I finished off the background of my layout with some splats of juniper reinker for a different effect. I hope you are inspired to give this technique a try!<br />
Now before you go on to <a href="http://mlisrobinson.blogspot.com/2015/05/may-technique-bit-of-blot.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Melissa's blog</span></a>, I need your help. This is a senior picture of my mom and my layout needs a title. Please leave your suggestions in the comment section!<br />

Be sure to visit all the designers' blogs for some great inspiration.<br />
The Paper Bird set caught my eye immediately with it's worded shapes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNrpkWvAj5ZhwPet-V2Ym8ExK0mdNTK0nmQ6lnfBcsr9Gwj_oT2OQFa6XikkKu7vlUrlpH3VS7lmtAVOE7D2MLcP2ICSu5ZThAfApghcwExfH_0YzvSe7-Ay6Un6j7WfoJyf2z9R0ByQ/s1600/hostess+exclusive+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNrpkWvAj5ZhwPet-V2Ym8ExK0mdNTK0nmQ6lnfBcsr9Gwj_oT2OQFa6XikkKu7vlUrlpH3VS7lmtAVOE7D2MLcP2ICSu5ZThAfApghcwExfH_0YzvSe7-Ay6Un6j7WfoJyf2z9R0ByQ/s400/hostess+exclusive+2.jpg" width="325" /></a></div>
My card is created completely from cardstock so it would not distract from the stamp set. I stamped the bird twice on different color cardstock (chocolate and cocoa) then fussy cut them using only the wing from the cocoa image and added a bit of twine for the nest. The cute little leaves are cut from the Artiste Cricut cartridge and the ribbon looking piece is actually a strip of chocolate cardstock that I ran through a crimper then inked up with cocoa ink. The lacey looking piece is actually punched from a border punch I've had in my stash for a very long time!<br />

Welcome to another Heartfelt Sentiments Paper focus Blog Hop. This month we are featuring the <span style="color: red;"><a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=110"><span style="color: red;">Jackson Paper Packet</span></a> </span>from our all new CTMH Seasonal Expressions 2 ideabook.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNys79MYEjskhcCmGhdNR8_Ex5kLLGEgOWBpDQjQMxz6G2a1wgetEEXzZCxCTGZ3-u5Nppfp3Rotrpf307Se7MrQFwIw7fd-vwtkg8kMJq3KgIffBkOU2nuKlWUxvS2szAYpNsachBG1w/s1600/jackson+collection.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNys79MYEjskhcCmGhdNR8_Ex5kLLGEgOWBpDQjQMxz6G2a1wgetEEXzZCxCTGZ3-u5Nppfp3Rotrpf307Se7MrQFwIw7fd-vwtkg8kMJq3KgIffBkOU2nuKlWUxvS2szAYpNsachBG1w/s320/jackson+collection.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, this paper packet is all about the outdoors and is a bit masculine...which works just fine if you do alot of outdoorsy type things with guys. I do neither, so had to find a way to adapt this paper to something I actually could scrapbook about. <br />
<br />
Here is my layout I created for a picture of my favorite subject right now, my granddaughter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRQvK1bBqpZT_GY_oERtY-V9PtF-ZQXbTszvjjq74KPIuGyjT_dsXf8k8lBnTv-s6wFOLAwXF-xcZzH1XmFS2QMUVOXHSXPo3qinGbDNw3k_6TqatyAJhyn-t8K7hv4-9RO7qu1kP0nno/s1600/jackson.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="390" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRQvK1bBqpZT_GY_oERtY-V9PtF-ZQXbTszvjjq74KPIuGyjT_dsXf8k8lBnTv-s6wFOLAwXF-xcZzH1XmFS2QMUVOXHSXPo3qinGbDNw3k_6TqatyAJhyn-t8K7hv4-9RO7qu1kP0nno/s400/jackson.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used several of the die cuts from the coordinating <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8428&ci=2132"><span style="color: red;">Compliments</span></a> collection, a piece of the paper as my base and a tiny piece of the paper underneath the photo mat. The spray and drips are created by mixing Barn Red reinker with water and spritzing/dribbling it on the paper while holding it upright. The wording is stamped with various alphabet stamps while "wrapped" is cut from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge and coated with Liquid Glass so it will stand out. I was so excited to actually have a photo to add to this layout, so was I ever disappointed to find that <i>neither</i> of my printers had ink in them! So, imagine if you will, this cute picture of my granddaughter in the photo well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBaHT2NhWmDmB5z7_iWPDNveqryeHcogMAE0TfBBBP339HfMf5YEhLrUgBDuQdnwYSlE0C-WVz4MdgFuwAHO1ft_IY5bVxnuKBabeyngxFn5mtKISQxkRZZwBjmoSyPn4iKcitmFLjHfM/s1600/4+months.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBaHT2NhWmDmB5z7_iWPDNveqryeHcogMAE0TfBBBP339HfMf5YEhLrUgBDuQdnwYSlE0C-WVz4MdgFuwAHO1ft_IY5bVxnuKBabeyngxFn5mtKISQxkRZZwBjmoSyPn4iKcitmFLjHfM/s320/4+months.JPG" width="245" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Notice that the color of her shirt matches the colors of the paper packet!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope I have inspired you to step out of the box and try creating something different with this paper packet. <br />
Welcome to a new month of the Heartfelt Sentiments Team Paper Focus Blog Hop! If you are coming from <a href="http://melissadavidscraps.blogspot.com/2015/03/heartfelt-sentiments-paper-focus-blog.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Melissa's blog</span></a> then you are definitely on the right track! As you can tell, this month we are creating with the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8285&ci=1855"><span style="color: red;">Hopscotch</span></a> Paper Packet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitGQGqWWJYXj7UL_HCnmUyyd1xdaqXBwMHSauEq_9pzCTD9wGVvPRD_QSQM_4rkpRzQTZYOF36xxFCYDhXNzSQTCRK_Jk8EYcRoV_xAyFMdPZEHC7NH8a8VJRVRLzpUNqMYs3NqHkjU5E/s1600/hopscotch+layout.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitGQGqWWJYXj7UL_HCnmUyyd1xdaqXBwMHSauEq_9pzCTD9wGVvPRD_QSQM_4rkpRzQTZYOF36xxFCYDhXNzSQTCRK_Jk8EYcRoV_xAyFMdPZEHC7NH8a8VJRVRLzpUNqMYs3NqHkjU5E/s1600/hopscotch+layout.jpg" height="400" width="397" /></a></div>
For my layout I used 3 different pieces from the packet. I decided to layer my squares on a darker piece to help them stand out more, so I picked Indian Corn Blue cardstock out of the coordinating colors in the patterns for my mats. It's so handy that Close To My Heart lists all the colors used in the paper on the back of the zip strips! I then added a few of the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8286&ci=1856"><span style="color: red;">Hopscotch Compliments</span></a> and some of the cute white <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8001"><span style="color: red;">enamel stars</span></a> to complete the layout.<br />
Thanks for stopping by today! Not hop on over to <a href="http://busyaggie.blogspot.com/2015/03/ctmh-paper-focus.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Aggie's</span></a> blog to check out her creativity!<br />

Kind of boggles the mind to begin with....but that's what challenges are for, right?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX4YFWm8SJ0SjLWmbCFCPjuU2y2yaCeuWQ0az9695NdbLRqfTlhS8RviqGi6dqAVNIESgEfEnj3Z5Ip0FUU7Vo3FWnInfwZ11c7hsT3BpErL1G8VdORc8refPDcFCbeJ9psFfhPspe0Kk/s1600/opposites+attrack+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX4YFWm8SJ0SjLWmbCFCPjuU2y2yaCeuWQ0az9695NdbLRqfTlhS8RviqGi6dqAVNIESgEfEnj3Z5Ip0FUU7Vo3FWnInfwZ11c7hsT3BpErL1G8VdORc8refPDcFCbeJ9psFfhPspe0Kk/s1600/opposites+attrack+001.jpg" height="400" width="306" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have pinned several "opposite" cards like this and have been waiting for the opportunity to create one. For my card I chose the Heartstrings paper and used one pattern piece and one cardstock. The butterfly is cut with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. The butterfly is actually cut out of each paper then applied to the opposite side on the base pages. My sentiment is from some very retired rubons that I found while unpacking (it's just like Christmas in the studio right now).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by today. You have all month to create and share your opposite project with us at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: yellow;">H2H</span></a> - we can't wait to see what you have come up with!</div>

I decided to stick with the Twine portion of enTWINEd...by creating these cute little lollipops.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYX_fm0xcoA3vFMmjIRPPDld-VPso1x9xo-o1naxtAVYytak7rbCZehqJytkfF56_WwhuixLWxeCnyUOXP3KJbTYkJk3RiKCliy-icoEWqOljd_rTpJOVCu3j59m7MCVvsa0u7h22Rtng/s1600/debi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYX_fm0xcoA3vFMmjIRPPDld-VPso1x9xo-o1naxtAVYytak7rbCZehqJytkfF56_WwhuixLWxeCnyUOXP3KJbTYkJk3RiKCliy-icoEWqOljd_rTpJOVCu3j59m7MCVvsa0u7h22Rtng/s1600/debi.jpg" height="400" width="202" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
My semi-annual retreat is coming up soon and I like to make each of my retreaters something cute to mark their cropping spot. I think these lollipops will be the spot feature at the retreat. I will find something special to put them in...maybe a tiny flower pot, or a jar of chocolates - something - and set them with the rest of the goodies at each spot. These are super easy to make. I used a pre-cut 1 1/4" adhesive circle to wrap my baker's twine around then attached each circle to a colored swizzle stick, wrapped some green washi tape around the stick and applied the name label to the tape. It's a good thing these are quick to make cuz I have quite a few more to make before the retreat!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Thanks for stopping in today. Be sure to share your interpretation of enTWINEd with us at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: yellow;">Heart 2 Heart Challenges</span></a>!</div>

For my card I used the Wanderful paper packet. It's nice, but could use something to emphasis the lettering on the squares. Nornally I would ink the edges of each letter, but this is not a really distressy type card.<br />
<br />
You can see here how the letters pop on the card by just outlining them with a black fine tip pen. I also outlined the three black squares to give them a bit more definition also.<br />

<br />
Welcome to another month of inspiration with the Heartfelt Sentiments Paper Focus Blog Hop. This month we are featuring <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7957&ci=1382"><span style="color: red;">Wanderful</span></a>. If you are coming from <a href="http://melissadavidscraps.blogspot.com/2015/02/heartfelt-sentiments-ctmh-paper-focus.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Melissa's</span></a> blog then you are on the right path!<br />
<br />
At first I couldn't decide how I felt about this paper pack. It definitely screams travel projects, but after I had looked at it for a bit I started liking it more and more. There is one piece that is phenomenal so I chose to use it for my base page.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWjhUretLmIz0YaWJkzjqO0rzDP3RD00xBW6xF0r0Gy2RFYGVhIAKZ3iJzHx_HvcQy-GW5TrVBmdgSd4sHbZrjyCipUX0kGfV4Y3Le-v0cx2G8FKhnSuvZc_1DRD1PWcgfaWSxhyphenhyphen36p0Q/s1600/wanderful+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWjhUretLmIz0YaWJkzjqO0rzDP3RD00xBW6xF0r0Gy2RFYGVhIAKZ3iJzHx_HvcQy-GW5TrVBmdgSd4sHbZrjyCipUX0kGfV4Y3Le-v0cx2G8FKhnSuvZc_1DRD1PWcgfaWSxhyphenhyphen36p0Q/s1600/wanderful+001.jpg" height="396" width="400" /></a></div>
I did quite a bit of distressing to the piece as you can see, then I added bits and pieces from the other papers to complete my layout (Gotta love those zipstrips.) Once I got the pieces down I thought it lacked something at the bottom, so I tried a technique I've been seeing and was really wanting to try by adding the drips under the photo mat. It's really easy to do using an eye dropper and some reinker, drip a small dab of ink on the paper, then stand it up and let it run until you like where it stops. I did mix my reinker with a bit of water to get a lighter shade of blue, but you really don't have to-just depends on the look you are after! I also added the stamped arrow from the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8194"><span style="color: red;">Here We Go</span> </a>stamp set and found the thin circles on <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8173"><span style="color: red;">Glitter Glam</span></a> - I definitely liked the way all the drips and stamping turned out in the end!!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by today! Now wander on over to <span style="color: yellow;"><a href="http://busyaggie.blogspot.com/2015/02/ctmh-paper-focus-blog-hop.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Aggie'</span></a>s</span> blog to see her creativity at work!<br />

This week our theme is "Home is where the Heart is". This one can be interpreted in several ways so you can be really creative! I decided to play on the "Heart" portion of the challenge and create this quick and simple card!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwkE45DlU50JdFefOWQvJnD5sgI1wvBa2BknHOMkqVkZfa4bKBAIn0ybbG3EtZW7SGVIhV3uyQh-Mu5wE5xeUw7a0_u0FPkfR08Q5ez-PjbyKYaAfjIMYBEp45gIdwfNkoEqY4sDuhLwY/s1600/heart+card+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwkE45DlU50JdFefOWQvJnD5sgI1wvBa2BknHOMkqVkZfa4bKBAIn0ybbG3EtZW7SGVIhV3uyQh-Mu5wE5xeUw7a0_u0FPkfR08Q5ez-PjbyKYaAfjIMYBEp45gIdwfNkoEqY4sDuhLwY/s1600/heart+card+003.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
I used the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8281&ci=1849"><span style="color: red;">Heartstrings</span></a> paper packet to create my card. With some calculated cutting I managed to get the cute little cupid and sentiment for the card front out of one of the paper pieces, then I randomly punched the hearts out of several other pieces. I finished it off with a little inking on all the pieces, some <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8301&ci=1888"><span style="color: red;">Pixie twine</span></a> and bling.....quick and simple!<br />
<br />

Be sure to check out all the designers blogs to get some great inspiration.<br />
<br />
Last weekend I joined a group of fellow consultants at our team meeting....always loads of fun, and this day was no exception. At one point in the meeting we were challenged to create a project with only 2 Picture My Life Cards and what ever bling/accessories we had available - in a 10 minute time period! Oh my, it takes me at least 10 minutes just to come up with a base idea (card, layout, etc) let alone put it together. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
What a challenge this was! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm2507O1-6UqoPQSwF76p9tBhvnjNDlb9ytDjKKSO0ybSQmzZqnY3LiCOkpzMqCzzOfxbI71pskfKWimcydSnQKnSDWwu9-LLJJ2cwDPnEZdfFp_TU1LGa88QeTzoyA-XtF-7OZT5gO1A/s1600/valentine+layout+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm2507O1-6UqoPQSwF76p9tBhvnjNDlb9ytDjKKSO0ybSQmzZqnY3LiCOkpzMqCzzOfxbI71pskfKWimcydSnQKnSDWwu9-LLJJ2cwDPnEZdfFp_TU1LGa88QeTzoyA-XtF-7OZT5gO1A/s1600/valentine+layout+001.jpg" height="387" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ27-SynEmM82cP2ee-ganGvtNKxCHszsvh24Ckwj115ja2DbSVjYYMHt2hC8rk7_kiScMYkTSptlggguKs950tvIwiYziy6lnhJo1RI_3VKfkOkFjB0UCuZvWuj-SkV13c78XkpQGYJ4/s1600/valentine+layout+pml+cards+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ27-SynEmM82cP2ee-ganGvtNKxCHszsvh24Ckwj115ja2DbSVjYYMHt2hC8rk7_kiScMYkTSptlggguKs950tvIwiYziy6lnhJo1RI_3VKfkOkFjB0UCuZvWuj-SkV13c78XkpQGYJ4/s1600/valentine+layout+pml+cards+002.jpg" height="265" width="320" /></a>I created this layout with 2 of these cards from the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8308&ci=1902"><span style="color: red;">Heartstrings</span></a> Picture My Life Kit. <br />
<br />
I trimmed the "A few of the details" journaling spot from one of the cards that I had already cut in half. The bottom half of the card I used for the pocket to hold more journaling strips or memorabilia. The banners and date section were trimmed from my second PML card. I added a sticker from the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8282&ci=1850"><span style="color: red;">Heartstrings Compliment</span> </a>pack on top of my pocket and a few<span style="color: red;"> <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8000&ci=1467"><span style="color: red;">red enamel hearts</span></a></span> sprinkled around. I chose to use the black base page from the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7683&ci=846"><span style="color: red;">Paper Fundamentals Basic Assortment</span></a> because it has that great embossed image and it gave the layout a little pizzazz since there is not much on it. Not bad for 10 minutes! (I have to admit, I did bring this layout home later and added some mats for the photo and sticker-so not quite 10 minutes). <br />
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you are inspired to try this challenge. Now hop on over to <a href="http://judyfaye.blogspot.com/2015/01/heartfelt-sentiments-valentines-blog-hop.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Judy Faye's</span></a> blog and be inspired by her creativity!!<br />

My birthday is in October - so it was Sunset for me!!<br />
Since my studio is STILL not unpacked (sigh) I, once again, jumped over to <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/ctmh/products/studioj.aspx"><span style="color: red;">Studio J</span></a> to create my project.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7nMTvVFMDiVjvmNM_lztj3ym9g_GpJ6AQbehARkHK4JNHmjjhdGfcm6JYK6MtZxnExhnN9xHiVwkOP8DQmEM4okCX5kWg9PReq1POcb2DTcsWN5iP4VjdEFaVIxo2jCDZcPmJC62gxl4/s1600/sunset_h2h_-_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7nMTvVFMDiVjvmNM_lztj3ym9g_GpJ6AQbehARkHK4JNHmjjhdGfcm6JYK6MtZxnExhnN9xHiVwkOP8DQmEM4okCX5kWg9PReq1POcb2DTcsWN5iP4VjdEFaVIxo2jCDZcPmJC62gxl4/s1600/sunset_h2h_-_1.jpg" height="355" width="610" /></a></div>
This kit mix is one of the retired paper packets that is still available in Studio J - gotta love that. One minor issue I had - the orange color in the kit mix was Autumn Terracotta - not Sunset! No problem....it's so easy to change the color of the paper in Studio J....just click on the paper well and find the color you want in the drop down box and "ta da" you have Sunset instead of Autumn Terracotta!!<br />
Really - if you haven't played with Studio J you should try it! Jump on over to my <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/ctmh/products/studioj.aspx"><span style="color: red;">website</span></a> and give it a try. You can play as much as you want and never have to spend a penny!!<br />
<br />
So....what is your birthday color? Be sure to share your color challenge project with us at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: yellow;">H2H</span></a>.<br />

For my layout I used one of the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7708&CatalogID=2021" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Circle Pennants</span></a> to feature a picture of my great grandmother and I. It's so simple to punch out a 1" circle and pop it right into the pennant.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ZPCceHO4h4tVFJGnG1F0VqC20TnLPfXNpCicupQRkUoHTHN9x4_C84-5OBbhSdKrCYsrqGwckuXnGSicrXSsD28GEbIq_T4R4xeSWz8bYT82w4KyKbaDLBRI4Vtbv90ej3dXMBG4ShE/s1600/Bruer%2527s+cafe+bling.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ZPCceHO4h4tVFJGnG1F0VqC20TnLPfXNpCicupQRkUoHTHN9x4_C84-5OBbhSdKrCYsrqGwckuXnGSicrXSsD28GEbIq_T4R4xeSWz8bYT82w4KyKbaDLBRI4Vtbv90ej3dXMBG4ShE/s1600/Bruer%2527s+cafe+bling.jpg" height="320" width="102" /></a></div>
<br />
A <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7709&CatalogID=2021" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">clear glass cover</span></a> is available to keep your picture securely in the pennant and give it some protection from the elements. I added a piece from the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7700&CatalogID=2021" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Thinker</span></a> and <span style="color: red;"><a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7720&CatalogID=2021" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Rhineston</span></a>e</span> charms collection on the ribbon for some added effect. Here's a close up of the pennant area of the layout. Because I didn't want the pennant and charms to move around on my layout, I secured each of them to the paper with a glue dot.<br />
<br />
I chose to use the retired Timberline Collection paper because it is so rustic and antique looking - which goes perfectly with my photo of the cafe. You'd never guess this was a camping/outdoors focused paper line. I was really sad when this paper retired, but rest assured I got plenty of it so I could use the wood looking piece on many more projects!!<br />
<br />

<br />
Welcome to a new year and a new month for our paper focus bloghop!! This month we are featuring Heartstrings. If you are coming from <a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmelissadavidscraps.blogspot.com%2F2015%2F01%2Fheartfelt-sentiments-heartstrings-blog.html&h=pAQG3JlWb"><span style="color: yellow;">Melissa's</span></a> blog then you are on the right track!<br />
<br />
I just recently moved and my entire studio is still in its boxes patiently waiting to be unpacked. I'm telling you I could not find a ribbon or tape or even scissors if my life depended on it right now! What to do for the hop? I found myself visiting an avenue for crafting that I haven't been down in a very long time.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhELJimM_767_sO_XBNgajRD8IiyYptez3TekpFxUJRkPKVtGtV4N0BsVUSWRQl48kR6c9yJzBohKvuHdFblSc06gSTMfcD-4A3jI-NuTvrRbJPfQceS8__Bf5aR3U0MN-dDptMjqZ6cvA/s1600/jan_5_bloghop_-_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhELJimM_767_sO_XBNgajRD8IiyYptez3TekpFxUJRkPKVtGtV4N0BsVUSWRQl48kR6c9yJzBohKvuHdFblSc06gSTMfcD-4A3jI-NuTvrRbJPfQceS8__Bf5aR3U0MN-dDptMjqZ6cvA/s1600/jan_5_bloghop_-_3.jpg" height="355" width="640" /></a></div>
I logged in to Studio J and created these two layouts with the Heartstrings collection. I added some of the elements from the online collection and finished this up in no time!! I must admit I haven't used Studio J much, but in times of crisis it worked out very well! If you'd like to give it a try click <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/ctmh/products/studioj.aspx"><span style="color: red;">here</span>.</a> There is no fee for playing with the program, you only pay for the layouts you order - or just a single jpg file - pretty handy!!<br />
<br />

I hope you are truly inspired by our design teams creations and will join us each week. This weeks challenge is to pair Something Old and Something New. I had an extra challenge with this one since my craft studio is still in boxes from my recent move and finding something old OR new is quite a challenge!! Luckily I spent the weekend at my parents house and my mother has a smorgasbord of old CTMH paper packets! Thanks Mom!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP_Sde1uQn0WdGDWd34QCV8gONYaX1Fo6jD2nngWHgp9hTujeARS8bqy_-CF9bw4gVhvKLznzT0heNg4by9Z7WM95qf5qBo_rkNYxZvh_oY0mhKVPBprcGCoMEpj9PeizUVOul2ZJqpac/s1600/old+and+new+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP_Sde1uQn0WdGDWd34QCV8gONYaX1Fo6jD2nngWHgp9hTujeARS8bqy_-CF9bw4gVhvKLznzT0heNg4by9Z7WM95qf5qBo_rkNYxZvh_oY0mhKVPBprcGCoMEpj9PeizUVOul2ZJqpac/s1600/old+and+new+001.jpg" height="400" width="272" /></a></div>
For my card I have paired the long since retired paper packet Silhouette with pieces from both the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=88"><span style="color: red;">Snowhaven</span></a> and <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=84"><span style="color: red;">Chalk It Up</span></a> paper packets in our current idea book. The black dotted paper from Silhouette worked perfectly with the dots from both the current packets. I added a tiny piece of floral paper from Silhouette to tie in the flowers from the Snowhaven <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7963&ci=1395"><span style="color: red;">Compliments</span></a>. Isn't it wonderful how the pieces from the individual packets in the Annual Inspirations catalog all work together!!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget to share your old and new creations with us at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: red;">Heart to Heart!</span></a><br />

Welcome to a special edition of the Heartfelt Sentiments Team Blog Hop. Today we are featuring projects made from the new Close To My Heart Seasonal Expressions 1 mini ideabook. If you have arrived here from <a href="http://mlisrobinson.blogspot.com/2014/12/seasonal-expressions-blog-hop.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Melissa's blog</span></a> then you definitively are on the right path!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The very first thing that caught my eye while I was cruisin' through the Seasonal Expressions was this fabulous stamp set called A Thing Well Done. It screamed debi and I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it and create.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRpjzlwxoqViMFdLdgqragggWNzFQBAXh_ZBI_XKoYUfOMOppsdMRoZj45H_Ob6Ka_9B9lLImCB_aHuworsq2-h9E-_ad0u6Y2L9FqYPQCUfuNRaDqCqtQIc1EF8scNrtjUWk52-cgC-w/s1600/Seasonal+Expression.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRpjzlwxoqViMFdLdgqragggWNzFQBAXh_ZBI_XKoYUfOMOppsdMRoZj45H_Ob6Ka_9B9lLImCB_aHuworsq2-h9E-_ad0u6Y2L9FqYPQCUfuNRaDqCqtQIc1EF8scNrtjUWk52-cgC-w/s1600/Seasonal+Expression.jpg" height="297" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For my card I used chocolate ink to stamp the images first. I then distressed the entire card front with Cashmere, Chocolate and Cocoa inks on a Colonial White base. I chose Pacifica cardstock for my accent color on the Chocolate card base. The addition of a few light brown pearls gave it just the finishing touches it needed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This stamp set is a Hostess Only set, so if you'd like to create with it, let me know and we'll book a party for you!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Here I am, back with our final challenge for 2014 at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: red;">Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog</span></a>. It's been a great 6 months and I am excited to continue sharing my creations with you for another 6 months!! This week we have a color challenge for you....you must use Lagoon, Black and Silver! Lagoon and Black are a favorite color combination of mine - so this was a great challenge! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy9xuz_oHn7Q6nhYZtrCKBoqp9L09U5ydQbkgVox2n_CxVFeXpEyYzPYn0WVwqr1aimYqxLM-sRmCAR1jM1hlY8faRnZTWLGqKsXJGWNCiHGCR0XTkHfXEq7QlAZc6OXL2DSJNWPku5Gg/s1600/silver+and+black+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy9xuz_oHn7Q6nhYZtrCKBoqp9L09U5ydQbkgVox2n_CxVFeXpEyYzPYn0WVwqr1aimYqxLM-sRmCAR1jM1hlY8faRnZTWLGqKsXJGWNCiHGCR0XTkHfXEq7QlAZc6OXL2DSJNWPku5Gg/s1600/silver+and+black+2.JPG" height="400" width="290" /></a></div>
To create my card I cut some strips from the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7950&ci=1369"><span style="color: yellow;">Chalk It Up</span></a> paper packet tearing the ends to resemble washi tape, then added a strip of<a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=6792"> <span style="color: yellow;">Silver Shimmer tape</span></a> for some sparkle The stars and sentiment are stamped from a retired CTMH set, I added a few <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8004"><span style="color: yellow;">silver sequins</span></a> and some <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=6748"><span style="color: yellow;">black</span></a> sparkles for extra shine.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by today. Please share your "Tinsel Time"creation with us at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: red;">H2H</span></a>!<br />

Welcome to another month of fabulous creations on the Heartfelt Sentiments Team Blog Hop! This month we are creating with Confetti Wishes. If you are coming from <a href="http://www.melissadavidscraps.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: yellow;">Melissa D's</span></a> blog you are on the right track!!<br />
<br />
If you've had a chance to see the papers in the Confetti Wishes packet (if not, click <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7955&ci=1378"><span style="color: red;">here</span></a>) then you will agree it is pretty much geared towards birthday layouts and paper crafting designs. I decided to shift the focus away from birthday and do this layout that could be any type of photos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYZSwhR-wFZwqfUbU8fPDyy2WmXcJLdYihTCgsFnZvSNSwYUX9yIpJovcFJnvPww_6QC2pnkB7uael-t9tSBzXnEzQeTWcJaaEfdt4R0DQ13SPPRdgB7G4CzZ_rU31ftPqHubNqZ_2UF4/s1600/december.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYZSwhR-wFZwqfUbU8fPDyy2WmXcJLdYihTCgsFnZvSNSwYUX9yIpJovcFJnvPww_6QC2pnkB7uael-t9tSBzXnEzQeTWcJaaEfdt4R0DQ13SPPRdgB7G4CzZ_rU31ftPqHubNqZ_2UF4/s1600/december.jpg" height="400" width="395" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first hurdle I had to get past with this paper was the bright colors. Thank goodness for the deep rich blue color of the Pacifica cardstock - it saved the day for me. I incorporated most of the papers from the packet in the layout as well as quite a few of the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7964&ci=1397"><span style="color: red;">complement stickers</span></a>. I added a few of the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7335&ci=906"><span style="color: red;">Aqua Dots</span></a> and was done!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
How about a little contest now? Tis the season for giving - right? If you can tell me where the striped banner pieces on the right side of the layout came from, I'll put your name in a drawing to win this very layout!! Leave your answer in the comments section for a chance to win!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by today. Now hop on over the <span style="color: yellow;"><a href="http://busyaggie.blogspot.com/2014/12/ctmh-paper-focus-blog-hop.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Aggie's blog</span></a> </span>and see what wonderful creation she has for you!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Welcome to another week of challenges at <a href="http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: yellow;">Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog</span></a>! This week we are scrapbooking our favorite holiday. The challenge for me.....1st define "scrapbook" then 2nd pick a favorite holiday. With a bit of discussion with the design team it was decided that anything with a picture on it could be deemed "scrapbooking" - #1 done! Picking a favorite holiday was a bit more challenging for me....so many to choose from. I have to admit, Christmas is probably not my most favorite holiday for various reasons, but it is my most favorite holiday to create and decorate for. I have tons of holiday decorations that I've made over the years, some of which I like so much I don't ever put away when Christmas is over. </div>

So I'm sharing with you today my 2014 creation to add to the collection. Here in my area of North Texas these blocks are all the rage. I really wanted to create some and found this the perfect opportunity. My blocks tell a story of all the Christmas pj's that my girls have had over the years (new pj's for Christmas is an annual tradition at my house). The tags are designed to be removed from the blocks and put away....maybe I will. They are created with the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7953&ci=1375"><span style="color: red;">Yuletide Carol</span></a> paper packet from Close To My Heart as well as the stamp set that comes along with the <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8123&ci=1346"><span style="color: red;">Yuletide Carol Workshop On The Go. </span></a>The stamp set has become one of my very favorites for Christmas creations - a must have in my books!! The letters are cut from various Cricut Cartridges and "pj's" was stamped with <a href="http://mysistershobby.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7475&ci=516"><span style="color: red;">Framework Alphabet</span></a> ,one of the best alphabet stamps Close To My Heart has had in my opinion!!<br />

This week we are featuring projects that use no embellishments. Sounds easy - right? I found this a little more challenging than I thought. How many times did I reach for some ribbon or bling to add to the layout? More than I'd like to admit!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG_BrPuRLYRC44CgKlCxRc-kYe6NUS4CZ_rmvkWNohuo0pUulytuBEztFnaRUE0nEvAStcuWeGJa6xg6WaIn64JPb4Fyq4Q7GRY19ESIHl3sAuOD10nYyfVNzJ3yEV6NREuF0uwXcksjQ/s1600/20141116_094733.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG_BrPuRLYRC44CgKlCxRc-kYe6NUS4CZ_rmvkWNohuo0pUulytuBEztFnaRUE0nEvAStcuWeGJa6xg6WaIn64JPb4Fyq4Q7GRY19ESIHl3sAuOD10nYyfVNzJ3yEV6NREuF0uwXcksjQ/s1600/20141116_094733.jpg" height="397" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I definitely had to get creative! So instead of ribbon or bakers twine (which was my original thought) for the tag ties I cut a very thin piece of paper and tied it in to the tags. And for bling, I used a few different sized hole punches to punch circles out of some scrap B&T paper, then covered them with some Liquid Glass to resemble pearls. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I'm sure you've seen from past posts, this is one of my favorite paper packets in the Annual Inspiration Book. It has so many uses other than winter/cold/snow photos. This is layout captures a quick photo I took of my daughter and granddaughter one afternoon. The title from the compliments set went perfectly with the photo. I added some hand made flowers - the black two are made from gathered tull and the red is paper inked up with some black ink. The tiny flowers are paper stamped with one of the dotted background stamp then punched from a punch I spied at the retreat I was at last weekend. Add some blingy swirls and it's done! After I was done I realized I hadn't distressed one bit of this layout and that it really isn't my style, but I enjoyed creating it...hmmm maybe my style is changing?</div>

Welcome to another month of the Heartfelt Sentiments Paper Focus Blog Hop. This month we are featuring the Pathfinding Packet as shown on page 47 of the new Ideabook. If you are coming from <a href="http://melissadavidscraps.blogspot.com/2014/09/heartfelt-sentiments-blog-hop.html"><span style="color: yellow;">Melissa D's</span></a> blog you are on the right path.<br />
<br />
I like the color combinations of this paper packet, the blue add's just the right brightness to the fall toned greens and browns. For my layout, I incorporated several of the zip strips from the papers as well as multiple cuts from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. For bling I added some Base and Bling Dream Charms and Brown and Tan Sparkles. The stamping is done with several retired stamp sets.<br />

This one was rather difficult for me. I thought and thought about what IS my favorite embellishment and came to the conclusion I don't have any one particular favorite. Actually, it appears, I have a favorite for a bit of time and use it on everything then it changes and I'll use something else consistently for a while. So, I went through my latest projects and determined that at this point in time, my favorite embellishment to use is a sprinkling of bling.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0MLZCkXRPjOP4Xm0WzlAAjOUktsSFKSYCxIWfT_IzHhbz1LSB3iuYVCbyEU-IwkaKrllq3ksyznY9BsMtxoz0c6NmCmmvhSkt_p1_6fQ5HZXI7hsfxsnQzQsJlsg3EZ4JFzKZjUbn4Y/s1600/fav+embli+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0MLZCkXRPjOP4Xm0WzlAAjOUktsSFKSYCxIWfT_IzHhbz1LSB3iuYVCbyEU-IwkaKrllq3ksyznY9BsMtxoz0c6NmCmmvhSkt_p1_6fQ5HZXI7hsfxsnQzQsJlsg3EZ4JFzKZjUbn4Y/s1600/fav+embli+002.jpg" height="400" width="337" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It might be rhinestones, epoxy bubbles or now these great new sequins....or all of the above, somewhere I've been adding a sprinkling of bling to all of my projects. I like the look of the bling randomly added to the project. Another trend I noticed on my projects was flowers. I had a period recently that I did flowers on everything. So my project today combines both. These flowers were stamped with black archival ink and colored with the ShinHan Markers. All the stamps used on my project are retired, but there are loads of them in the new Ideabook to color in this manner.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Anyone who knows me, or follows my blog can pretty much tell you what MY favorite technique is......I'll admit it....I am a distresser!! In my creative mind a project is not finished unless it has been distressed somewhere!! I went all out on this weeks project!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnig06G67a5_HXcLga1gR8pvacBKAPekKcJ1hujTs2_sNOXxp8AG8DPSvQo4VSFY8zbahIrxpI6i0R8LAJts3cN1ZXYM57P0UR0AozuKOcdPU3Ydj4EQh-9WWSKS8r7QPUtBWL8-7R5yI/s1600/favorite+technique+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnig06G67a5_HXcLga1gR8pvacBKAPekKcJ1hujTs2_sNOXxp8AG8DPSvQo4VSFY8zbahIrxpI6i0R8LAJts3cN1ZXYM57P0UR0AozuKOcdPU3Ydj4EQh-9WWSKS8r7QPUtBWL8-7R5yI/s1600/favorite+technique+002.jpg" height="397" width="400" /></a></div>
There are several distressing techniques on my layout. Of course tearing the paper and inking the edges is a standard distressing technique. I always ink the edges with 2 colors of ink, Our new Flaxen ink is perfect for distressing,then I edge it off with some Cocoa ink. On some of the pieces here I added black as a third color for a bit of contrast. One of my other favorite distressing techniques is the scrunching up of the paper edge that you see on the left side of the layout. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZRZWxhiTtqrk7ytyQRheOcxCOhJjV-79JDtXl7S0OwRvs03M96vuKYeNH6LGFZxtPyQc-psPSjUUPCLm0DAPp5xjOz0hrOXPHG_8X-uS2zP3aFHwze2wHBZ9H8uuA23o88gwFpfYzmO4/s1600/favorite+technique+-paper+scrunching.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZRZWxhiTtqrk7ytyQRheOcxCOhJjV-79JDtXl7S0OwRvs03M96vuKYeNH6LGFZxtPyQc-psPSjUUPCLm0DAPp5xjOz0hrOXPHG_8X-uS2zP3aFHwze2wHBZ9H8uuA23o88gwFpfYzmO4/s1600/favorite+technique+-paper+scrunching.jpg" height="320" width="100" /></a>Have you tried this? Just spritz the edge of your paper with some water (it needs to be good and saturated) then scrunch it up with your fingers until you get the look you are after. You will need to go back occasionally while its drying and scrunch some more since it relaxes a bit as it dries. For a really aged look, ink the edges of you paper before you spritz it with water. The ink will run into the paper that way. You can go back after it's dry and add some more ink to sharpen the color if you'd like to.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Don't you just love this piece of paper? It just screamed "Distress me" !! It's from the Close To My Heart Yuletide Carol collection. I will be ordering up more of this collection before it's gone....love it! <br />
