Fabric Uses

Welcome to May's technique blog hop.  This month we are featuring fabric on our projects.  Be sure to stop by all our designers posts to see what they have created.  Should you be joining me from Joy's blog then you are on the right track! If you get lost or would like to refer back to a specific post you will find a list of designers at the bottom of my post.

For my project I really wanted to do something unique with the fabric.  I really like this black piece from the For Always collection and wanted to showcase it. I was really stumped for a bit, but then got inspired by a card I pinned to create this wall hanging for my daughter's wedding portrait.  You're going to have to use you imagination a bit here, because obviously this is not my daughter in the photo, but a representation of her.  This is again a sample for my photographer, as her dress I am making will be similar to Zelda's.  I will probably go back and add some additional flowers and filler from her bouquet afterwards - once she's picked them, but for now these are similar to some of the flowers she will be carrying.  The lilies are made from crepe paper since I couldn't get silk ones small enough and the cherry blossoms are purchased.

I started out intending to put a title on the piece - something like "The Princess" but then changed my mind....what do you think?  Leave a comment with your vote and any suggestions please!

Now, hop on over to Tabbi's blog to see what she has created!

Black and White

Welcome to this months technique hop!  This month we are featuring projects with black and white as the focus.  If you are coming from Shirley's blog then you're on the right track.  This is one of my favorite color combinations.....so easy to work with since almost anything goes with it!
I choose one of the pieces from Close To My Heart's For Always paper packet as my background.  If you look closely you can see the faint detail of doilies and script....this is my favorite piece from the packet. I added a bit of Lagoon to the layout using the coordinating My Stickease....the flower is created from the scallop strips that I cut into sections and layered onto a circle....the button is from my stash!
Now, hop on over to Cherri's blog to see what she's created.  Here is a list of this month's participants....just in case you get lost or want to refer back to a particular blog.
