SWC August 1 Challenge

Here it is August first already and we're back to you with another great challenge at Sketches With Color.  This months challenge is a great one...

When I saw the colors we were working with this month I automatically thought Halloween....here's my rendition.
Most of the products used are from the scrap drawers...some Bo Bunny and Close To My Heart bits and pieces.  The stamp set is a retired Close To My Heart stamp -

I hope you are inspired to create your own layout with this month's challenge.  Please share it with us at Sketches with Color!

Sketches with Color - Happy Birthday

Here we are in July and time for another Sketches With Color Challenge.

Let me tell you - this one was a REAL challenge for me!  The sketch is great, but the colors - well, I just don't use pastels, yellows or really bright colors - what a pickle I was in.  I certainly had to step out of my comfort zone on this one!

Being out of my zone, I decided to start small and for some reason this sang Birthday Card to me.  So adapting the sketch I created this card.

Admitedly, this card does not look finished to me - there is no inking of the edges or distressing of the paper....I could stare at it for hours and still not think it is done!  But done it is, so I submit it for your viewing pleasure.

Don't forget to share your creations of this great combination with us at Sketches With Color.

Me & You - Sketch with Color

I'm so excited to have been asked to join the design team for Sketch With Color Challenge Blog!  This is my very first challenge post to share with you - I'm really looking forward to sharing a bunch more!
Here is our 6/15 challenge layout and color selection:

I truly thought this was going to be an easy layout, great sketch, some of my favorite colors - well it turned out not quite so easy!  I had to really concentrate on using ONLY these colors....sheesh, harder than you think!
Here's my final creation:
I started with the dark blue base page, then added a few purple hexagons with a stencil and ink that I seem to be rather addicted to these days!  The other hexagons are cut from a piece of paper.  I hope you are inspired to try this color combo out yourself.  Please share your finished design by uploading here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Party

I'm back again today with my next creation as guest designer for Sketch With Color.  I was really inspired by the sketch this time, but found it quite challenging to come up with a color combination.
I finally settled on Monaco Blue, Violet and Linen...two of the three colors were ready for me in this nice collection from Quick Quotes.  I added the Violet chicken wire design on the base page with a bit of ink and a stencil....a technique I've learned to enjoy quite a bit recently!  I love being able to control the placement of the design on the page as well as the intensity of the color!
You might have been looking at this thinking "Darn debi, you could've used a better picture" but I've done the blurring intentionally...you see, I am pre-designing layouts for my daughter's wedding when I find a pose that I really like so our photographer can have an idea of what I'm looking for on wedding day - thank goodness the photographer comes from a scrapbooking home so she understands completely my quest! So, this is NOT my daughter OR her wedding - but it will be replaced this fall with the real thing.
Thanks for joining me today - don't forget to upload your sketch creations and share them with us!

Where I come from

I am thrilled to have been invited to be guest designer this month for Sketch with Color challenge blog.  A nice sketch is just what I need right now to get my creative juices flowing again.  It's so nice to have time to actually do something in my studio other than iron clothes!  The challenge of using a sketch and a specific color combination "stretches" the kinks out of my mind and is exhilarating!

Now, on to the first challenge.

Here is the layout sketch I had to work with.  The color combination is a choice of 3 of a set of 14 colors.  You can see the entire set of color choices here:

For my layout I choose Poppy Red, Sunflower and Dusk Blue.

The layout is created with a new line I have discovered from Farm House Paper Company.  I loved how the base page already had a bit of the sketch incorporated on the upper left side.  You can see the entire Market Place line by clicking here.  Not only is the paper stinking cool, but they have all kinds of bits and pieces to go along with the paper to spice up your projects.  This collection had the perfect color combination and was perfect for these pictures of the hardware store in the little town where I grew up that hasn't changed a bit since I left many years ago.

Thanks for stopping by...please share your creations using this challenge on the Sketch with Color blog!
