Yo-Yo

Tax season is over and I AM BACK!!  It feels so good to get some creative time in...
This month our technique hop is featuring the Yo-Yo Flower technique as shown on page 27 of the Spring/Summer 2012 ideabook.  Our hop is one big circle so be sure to check out each of our blogs to see some fabulous artwork featuring this month's technique.  If you get lost along the way or would like to refer back to a particular blog, come back here where you will find a complete list of all the hoppers at the end of my post.  If you are coming from Michelle's blog, then you are on the right track.

I have to admit I am not too fond of the Yo-Yo flowers.  I always seem to have a terrible time keeping it flat and arranged in the right shape while I pushed it down on the adhesive....but using the string and stitching it together made it super simple.  If you haven't tried making these flowers using this technique I strongly encourage you to do so and you'll be lovin' the flower once again.

For my layout this month, I decided to apply a twist to the flowers and used the technique instead to make the lace medalions on the side.  I first cut three strips of paper using a border cut from our Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, then scored, folded, stitched and applied them to the layout.....could not have been easier!!
The Florentine Paper Packet (X7153B) worked out perfectly for this layout.  I also tried out our new Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon (Z1732) for the first time here....I love it.  It took the color very easily and when I decided it was too dark, I just rinsed it a bit in clear water before it dried and got just the right shade of pink.

I hope you are inspired to give this technique a try (or retry).  Now hop on over to Tonya's blog and see what she has in store for you.
