Faux Alligator

Skin, that is.....This week's team challenge was to use embossing powder. I've got tons of pictures from last summer of my girl's trip to Gatorland, particularly the alligators (apparently Danyelle has a fascination with them - who knew). Here's what I came up with to combine the technique and the photos

Once again I used CTMH's flip flaps with the word gator to showcase ALL the photos Danyelle took.

Check out this week's mini tutorial for a complete "how to" for this technique

Rain

Beautiful, wonderful rain!! What a surprise I had this morning when I went out to see that it had recently rained!! Now my rear end is wet from sitting in the chair - but I don't care!!

Here's a layout I did about rain - it was rumbling around in my head for several months last winter, but I had to wait for the spring storms to come to get just the right photo. Catching rainfall in a picture was difficult for me - maybe I need to take a photography class, or better yet, just learned to use all the features on the camera I own!!

Flip Flappin' Away

Lifted this layout straight out of the Keynotes - but thought it was so cool looking I had to try it. These handy little pockets are 4X6 and self adhesive, called Flip Flaps, they are pretty fun to work with.

This is how it looks in the album

.

Did you notice that you can still see the entire photo while reading each flaps journaling....pretty cool - right!!

Oh, for those curious folks out there - the Keynotes is a resource published by the Close To My Heart corporate office once a quarter and sent to us with our new ideabooks. It's just one of the many resources they provide us.....Fabulous!!

We're having a great special right now - so if you are even more curious - hop on over to my website here and read all about it.

Happy Wednesday to you!!

Time to Create

I got to create a bit yesterday in between running my kids around, during my wait for a ride to show up I considered what I could do to jazz this layout up and bring the viewers attention to the important piece of the layout. Perhaps glitter would be the ticket!

Now came the dilemma - I have no Stickles that match my project - so ok, I will just create my own! I've done this on several occasions and found the results are exactly what I wanted. How wonderful is it that I can create matching bling because, of course, Close To My Heart has nearly everything you could ever want in matching colors!!

Here's a quick tutorial on how to do this technique:

I got the bottles and teeny little spoons at Michaels - or any craft store. The stirring stick as you can see is a chop stick from Panda Express. They work great for stirring and are FREE with every meal!!

You want to make sure you let the page lay flay while it's drying or the liquid glass will run - unless, of course you want it to run....click here to see a layout I did and let it run - pretty cool effect!! While you're looking check out the "Magic in the Making" layout, I mixed the liquid glass with Smokey Plum ink and just a smidgen of glitter to get a different look all together!

I hope you have fun playing with this technique......until next week

No time to play

Normally Saturday is my creating day - but with yesterday being a holiday, and having such a late night (who know a minor league baseball game would go 13 innings) I had no time for such things. Look for my latest technique or inspiration next week - same time - same place!!

It's going to be a hot one here in North Texas, which is quite fitting in my mind - I can't imagine an independence day celebration in any other kind of weather. Perfect for a backyard barbeque and a dip in the pool!!

As we all go about our planned celebrations today, let's pause for a moment to remember those people who got us to this grand day and say a prayer for the ones who are fighting for the same freedom for us and many other people around the world today and every day.
