Home Decor

Welcome to our November Technique Blog Hop.  This month we are featuring home decor projects from the vast selection in the Close To My Heart Autumn Winter Ideabook.  These items are scattered through out the Ideabook....you're sure to find an inspiration or two. If you are coming from Judy Faye's blog, then you are on the right track.  If you get lost along the way, or would like to refer back to a specific blog, a list of all our hoppers are at the end of my post.

For my project I began with our new My Creations Cubby box (pg 132). With boxes cut from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge it makes a really cute advent calendar.
I was, however, inspired to create a totally different project with the box.
My inspiration came first from a catalog advertisement for Christmas Ornaments.  It caught my eye and I thought it would be a perfect way to showcase photographs of my family's Thanksgiving tradition.  Cutting the individual boxes out of the cubby is easier than it looks, careful planning is the first order of business.  I marked which boxes I wanted gone with a pencil, then pulled the dividers out of the box and cut away each unwanted side.  I used the Pear & Partridge paper packet for the focal photo layout as well as the drawer and bird.
My mother always told me the project isn't complete unless you decorate all of it (even the bottom) so I distressed the outer box with paint and some stamping.  I wanted the box to look like it had been around as long as the tradition and am please with the way it turned out.
Now, hop on over the Joy's blog and see what she has in store for you!
