New me?

I must say, over the course of the first 4 days of the new year I have done things that I haven't done ever or in quite some time.....is this the beginning of a new me?  Perhaps so - are you curious about what I did?  Let me share some of the adventures.

First I took my mother to Walmart for groceries - I absolutely detest Walmart and avoid going there at all costs.  But being the dutiful daughter that I am, I agreed to take Mom for her weekly grocery outing since my father is not able to go now.  If you know my family, you will understand that taking Mom to the store is an adventure in itself.  Keeping up with her (and making sure she didn't wander off) AND putting up with Walmart was extremely trying, so much so that I had to have a nap afterwards!

Next I sorted through the piles of clothes that I have been avoiding since losing weight and threw out those items that no longer fit or have been hanging out for years unworn.

THEN I trimmed the tree in front of the garage that has been blocking the entrance for months (actually I have a motive here - I'm contemplating trading my car in and couldn't have the branches scratching up a new car).  In the process of trimming I got into a fire ant bed and several bites and some Benadryl later I have decided yard work is not on my list of doing regularly!

And finally, Saturday I went to a theater to watch a movie!  I can't tell you how long it has been since I went to the movies for pure pleasure (I went once last year to preview an upcoming movie about my nephew, but that was truly not pleasurable - more about that later).
I've been seeing the previews of Disney's new movie Saving Mr. Banks and since Mary Poppins is my all time favorite Disney movie I really wanted to see this movie.  It was a great movie that brought me to tears, well worth the stress I felt over actually going into a theater with people!

So, is this a hint of the me to come?  I guess we will all have to wait and see - be sure to check back regularly to see if this becomes the norm for the year!

Way to go, Debi. I'm impressed and inspired by your choice to embrace new adventures. That is the beginning of opening doors to new possibilities. And, as a Mary Poppins fan, I also very much enjoyed the Saving Mr. Banks movie.
